We just got two fun books in that have musical themes. The picture book for our younger patrons is called Hip and Hop, Don't Stop! by Jef Czekaj about a rabbit and a turtle who like to rap but have different styles. They are hesitant to befriend each other because the pond animals usually don't mix with the forest animals but the music brings them together for a fun finale. This book is as much fun to read as it is to hear.

For kids who are a little older we have a great new graphic novel called Zebrafish by Sharon Emerson about a girl who is new in school and wants to start a band. She is frustrated first by the lack of talent of the kids who show an interest and then by the fact that one of the band members is continually absent. She discovers that this band member is undergoing treatment for cancer and the band decides to make their first show into a fund raiser. A feel good book that feels realistic.
