It's Award Season!!

It’s really already that time of year again… (Drum roll)…the Librarians at the American Library Association have announced their annual awards for 2012! It is a great honor to make it onto this list – many librarians at ALA spent hours and hours reading and deliberating before releasing this list of the best of the best.

The Caldecott Award for 2012 went to A Ball for Daisy by Chris RaschkaA wordless picture book about all the fun a dog can have with her ball.

The Newbery Award for 2012 went to Dead End in Norvelt by Jack Gantos. In the historic town of Norvelt, Pennsylvania, twelve-year-old Jack Gantos spends the summer of 1962 grounded for various offenses until he is assigned to help an elderly neighbor with a most unusual chore involving the newly dead, molten wax, twisted promises, Girl Scout cookies, underage driving, lessons from history, typewriting, and countless bloody noses.

Cheers to Chris Raschka, Jack Gantos, and to the ALA for continuing this long standing award program! Lynn
