Just like last time, we will go over the books and then have a battle around them, followed by snacks and a game.   Hope to see you all there! - Lauren C.

Battle of the Books Club

Are you getting ready for the Urbana school's Battle of the Books?  Have you read all the books but want some practice, or do you want to hear about some of the books you haven't read?

On January 13th from 11:00-12:00 every book battler is invited come discuss  Adventures in Cartooning, Bunnicula, Butterflies and Moths, Bad News for Outlaws, and The Mostly True      Adventures of Homer P. Figg.  We will take a look at the books and practice answering questions.  There will be snacks to help fuel our book brains.   - Lauren C.

Urbana Battle of the Books

If you go to Leal or Yankee Ridge School, you may be involved in a special Battle of the Books which will take place at the Urbana Free Library on Saturday, April 9, 2011. Students at both schools are already reading books and preparing for the Battle. The books they are reading are all under consideration for The Bluestem Award: Illinois' Grades 3-5 Readers' Choice Award sponsored by the Illinois School Library Media Association. (Yankee Ridge students will also read some selected extra books for their school competition.)
Copies of the books used in the Battle are available here at the Library, so come on in and check them out!
