Great series for your own incorrigible child

The second book in the series The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place by Maryrose Wood has come out and it is as irresistibly fun as the first (The Mysterious Howling). The premise of the series is that plucky young Penelope Lumley, who is attending Miss Swanburne's Academy for Poor Bright Females answers a newspaper advertisement for a governess for Lord and Lady Ashton. The ad includes the curious qualification that the applicant must like animals? Penelope is thrilled to be hired and then meets her new charges, three young children who have been raised by wolves. She certainly has her work cut out for her as she is given the enormous task of transforming these loving youngsters who have a tendency to howl instead of talk, lick instead of kiss and chase down small animals instead of enjoying their tea into proper English children! Fun and mystery follow as she tries to discover who is trying to get the children into trouble and how these children came to be abandoned in the first place. This series has tons of humor for a variety of ages which would make it great for middle graders who like the humor of the Lemony Snickett books without the dark undertone. This series would also make a wonderful read-aloud that the whole family could enjoy. Let me know what you think! -Rachel V.
