Mostly everyone has seen that iconic photograph of a migrant mother and her children in a makeshift shelter in California during the depression. This book tells the back story behind that photo and other photos by 1930’s photographer Dorothea Lange.
Kadir Nelson’s latest book is a fabulous history of the African American experience in this country illustrated with his amazing paintings. (A few years ago Nelson was here at The Urbana Free Library talking about his award winning book We Are the Ship, about the Negro Baseball League.)
